Welcome to The SUNN Post, America’s first national student newspaper!

About Us
Launched in March 2025, The SUNN Post is the flagship program of the Students United News Network (SUNN), a network of 150+ student newsrooms in more than 30 states nationwide. We are a non-partisan national student newspaper that syndicates and commissions high school and undergraduate reporting, features, opinion writing, and broadcast news from the SUNN network. Our graphics and writing are by students, for students – and the teachers, parents and mentors who are invested in their futures.
Our Mission
SUNN and The SUNN Post are programs of Kidizenship, a non-profit, non-partisan youth civics organization that aims to empower student journalists and modernize civics education.
We believe student journalism is a vital form of lived civics education that teaches students to inquire, research, fact-check, and consider new perspectives—work that is especially important as youth trust in traditional media declines and student journalism programs collapse. We provide a platform for young people to be heard and participate in the national conversation.
How We Work
We support and professionalize young journalists using the following process:
- Pitch & Commission: Student journalists in our network pitch their best content. We also commission new work from our team of student reporters nationwide.
- Edit & Fact-Check: Our young editorial team edits the pieces and mentors students, helping them polish, fact-check, and professionalize their work.
- Publish: We publish 3-5 pieces per week on SUNNPost.com, aggregating both syndicated and commissioned content.
- Share: We share content with our partners and adapt it for social media channels like Instagram and TikTok (@sunnposts).
Our Impact
Since we launched our platform, we’ve made a true impact that only keeps on growing:
- 22,000+ students, teachers, parents, and mentors in our audience.
- $71,000 + in prizes and honoraria awarded directly to students.
-
- 2,500 + highly-engaged student content creators have been involved.
